Artist & Creative Practitioner

I am an artist and creative practitioner, inspired by the natural world, stories, disused industrial spaces, and the traces that are left behind. I live in the Derwent Valley, in Derbyshire, which has been called the birthplace of the Industrial Revolution, and furthermore in a village which hosted a significant wire making industry. This inextricably weaves its way into my work as a site-specific artist.

For me, creativity is a process to share, whether as participant or audience. It can be a powerful way to encourage confidence and well-being, and bring communities together.

“I first met Lise, when I attended a needle felting workshop she hosted, and immediately warmed to her love of nature, colour and texture. I am the proud owner of many pieces of her work! To mention a few, she created a beautifully executed wire wreath, that reflects my love of seed heads. I commissioned her to make a needle felted ‘mini Jac’ (our English Pointer), and she captured him perfectly. I also asked her to paint me a calming, reflective, immersive and healing painting… she definitely nailed it, sharing the process with me at every step. We love it, and love the journey it takes us on… can’t thank her enough”

With 20 years of experience, working predominantly within the realm of textile art (as Lisa Green Textile Artist), taking part in site specific residencies, creating sets and puppet making for theatre, I have explored various processes including sculptural hand stitching, free motion embroidery, and in the last 5 years, needle felted wool sculpture.
